🍵 Beauty & Taste | Sangria | The Perfect Ending Found Beneath the Railway Tracks | Osaka Loop Line (Outer Loop) ②

Date of Visit: February 1, 2026 (Sunday)

Before I knew it, I had made my way back toward Umeda.

Nakazakicho.

There was a restaurant that had caught my attention when I walked through the area before.

At that time, I didn’t go in.

But today was different.

I had come all the way to its doorstep.

There was only one thing left to do.

Go inside.

Nakazakicho, Itameshiya Eight, sangria, rosé sangria, Osaka food, under railway restaurant, Osaka Loop Line, Tenma walk, fried chicken, popcorn snack, wine, local Osaka restaurant, Beauty and Taste, YUMEVOJA

After a long walk through Tenma, I arrived in Nakazakicho. Beneath the railway tracks, I found Itameshiya Eight. To end the day, I chose a glass of rosé sangria. Its gentle sweetness was exactly what I needed after hours of walking. My Osaka trip had not gone according to plan, but those are often the days that stay in memory the longest.

The restaurant was called Itameshiya Eight.

I had assumed it was mainly a wine bar.

But when I looked at the menu, there were pizzas and pasta as well.

Wait a minute.

Maybe it was more of an international restaurant.

I wasn’t entirely sure.

For now, I decided to browse the à la carte menu.

I don’t mind spending time like that.

I ordered a red sangria.

And their famous special fried chicken.

A little later, something crossed my mind.

What exactly was “tapas,” the word written on the sign outside?

Curious, I looked it up.

Apparently, they are small Spanish dishes.

I learned something new.

Then the appetizer arrived.

Popcorn.

I almost said it out loud.

“What?”

That was definitely unexpected.

The restaurant was located beneath the railway tracks.

Cheerful Western pop music played in the background.

Above us, trains rumbled past.

Pop music.

Trains.

Popcorn.

Red sangria.

It was quite an unusual combination.

I took a sip of the sangria.

It was comforting.

Less formal than wine.

A little sweet.

Exactly what I needed after a day spent walking.

Then something else caught my attention.

There were only chopsticks.

No knife.

No fork.

And when the fried chicken arrived, it was much larger than I expected.

It was also rugged and chunky.

Difficult to eat.

Very difficult to eat.

There was no choice.

I stabbed it with my chopsticks and took a bite.

Where had all the elegance gone?

I had come to what I thought was a wine bar.

Yet somehow I found myself battling a giant piece of fried chicken.

Well, some days are like that.

Today had been completely unpredictable.

The endless shopping street.

Arriving one minute too late for the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living.

The beef offal miso stir-fry set meal.

And now, sangria beneath the railway tracks.

Very little had gone according to plan.

But that was exactly what made the day interesting.

I nibbled on the popcorn.

I sipped the sangria.

The sound of passing trains echoed overhead.

Before I knew it, the seats around me were beginning to fill.

I had entered right when the restaurant opened.

It must be a popular place.

If someone asked whether I would recommend this restaurant, I would probably hesitate.

After all, the appetizer was popcorn.

But I think I would answer like this:

“If you want to enjoy the sangria and the atmosphere.”

When I think back on this place, the first thing I remember is not the food.

It is that glass of sangria.

That kind of restaurant.

Tomorrow was a workday.

But moments like this are what make it possible to keep going.

Work again.

Walk again.

And somewhere, someday, enjoy another glass of sangria.

With that thought, I left the restaurant behind.
