A little hesitation, then step inside

Visit date: March 11, 2026 (Wednesday)

After wandering

After leaving the maze-like grounds of Eikando,
I stepped back into the outside world.

The quiet atmosphere faded,
and reality returned all at once.

I thought I would find something light to eat.

But nothing came easily.
Before I knew it,
I was wandering again—like someone searching for food without direction.

Eventually,
I found myself near Higashiyama Station.

A place I hesitated to enter

A place I found near the station.

Was it a noodle shop?
Or a café?

It was hard to tell.

The entrance was dark,
and I couldn’t quite see inside.

For a moment,
I even wondered if it was open.

I hesitated—
but stepped in anyway.

Cafe LCM

The name of the place:
Cafe LCM.

The interior felt like a café,
but the menu focused on simple meals—
udon, rice bowls, and light dishes.

There was a hotel next door,
so it might be used by guests staying nearby.

The atmosphere

Inside,
it was quieter than expected.

There was an English menu,
and international visitors seemed comfortable here.

A group of four tourists had just left.

Now, it was only:

a local couple,
a woman alone,
and myself.

Because you can’t see inside from the outside,
the entrance may give the wrong impression.

Oyakodon

I ordered oyakodon with miso soup
and added fried chicken.

The flavor was slightly sweet.

It felt just right
for a tired body.

Not a heavy meal—
but something to gently restore balance.

It might not pair well with alcohol.

A casual place

It didn’t leave a strong impression.

But it wasn’t disappointing either.

“Nothing special”
is probably the closest way to describe it.

Still, for international visitors,
it feels easy to enter.

English menu
Casual atmosphere
Reasonable prices

A good place to stop by during a trip.

At the end of the day

I walked a lot today.

Nanzen-ji,
Eikando,
and the paths in between.

Some meals stand out—
like the soba I had earlier.

Others are simple,
like this one.

Both are part of the journey.

From tomorrow,
back to everyday life.

Sometimes,
it’s not about finding the right answer,
but avoiding unnecessary friction.

Back to that kind of world.
