🍵Yaki Imo & Nikuman in Kawaramachi Kyoto | A Quiet Break Spot

After wandering, a small moment of relief.
A gentle kind of warmth.

Date visited: 2026.4.8 (Wednesday)

On the second floor of a supermarket, I found a restaurant.

It had the atmosphere of creative cuisine.
Thinking lunch might still be available, I went upstairs.

But everything was already sold out for the day.
Apparently, they do not close by time—the restaurant simply closes once the prepared meals are gone.

A little disappointing.

I went back down to the first floor.

Then I noticed roasted sweet potatoes and steamed buns lined up outside a small shop.
Warm steam rose softly into the air.

For some reason, I felt drawn toward it.

Inside was a small space.

It turned out to be a pizza shop.

But here too, the timing was off.
Pizza service had already ended.

Still, the roasted sweet potatoes and steamed buns remained.

I was the only one eating inside.

Local people simply bought them and carried them home.

First, a steamed bun and coffee.

A small break.

The steamed bun was ordinary.

Nothing special, but somehow perfect for that moment.

Curious, I added a roasted sweet potato.

One bite.

Simple.

That alone was enough.

The sweetness and aroma were not overpowering.
Yet they lingered gently.

It was perfect.

The fresh oysters had been the same.

And so was the roasted sweet potato.

I think I simply enjoy the natural taste of ingredients.

Coffee: 300 yen
Steamed bun: 120 yen
Roasted sweet potato: 280 yen

It is not a special place.

But you can slow down there.
You can return to yourself a little.

It seems to be operated by the supermarket itself.

Nothing flashy.
Just right.

Something inside me settled a little.

After this, I headed toward Yasaka Shrine.
